My trip to Peru

The plane ride lasted forever!
But now here I am in Cuzco, Peru. And I'm on a mountain in the Andes mountain range.

We've only been in Cuzco for three hours and my sister already has altitude sickness. Apparently it's from the "thin" air. She has to drink this tea made from coco leaves. Now I have to stay in a little coffee shop for the rest of the day. So much for getting a head start on our hike to Machu Picchu.

Day 2, Peru!
We are heading to this trail between Cuzco and Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is on of the Inca civilizations. Once we get to the trail, it will be a four day hike up the mountain.

We have been walking on the trail for three hours. It seems to go on forever! Tomorrow we will have to do tons more walking.'

Another day on the mountain.
We have been walking since 4:00 o'clock a.m. And now it is noon. my legs feel like jell-o. I am so tired!

Day 4.
I am still walking.

Day 5.
Ahhh! A llama just licked me!

Still walking.

We're here!
We actually walked for four days up a mountain. But it was worth it. It is so pretty from up here. The buildings and monuments may be all crumbly, but the scenery and everything else...I LOVE IT UP HERE!

We're LEAVING!
We have to leave this awesomely beautiful place! Good bye!

We just got back from this cool little market place!

They had really good smelling food, super bright and colorful cloth, and these really weird stuffed llamas. Oh, by the way, we are on our way to the Atacama Desert to see these lines that were drawn in the sand tons of years ago.

We are in a Desert.

Actually, to be exact we are in the Atacama desert. We are looking at these white lines in the brown pebbles that are called Nazca lines. I think they were made as paths to places or sculptures that are no longer there.

Right now, I am on a train.

And that train is taking us to Juliana. We are going to see lake Titicaca, which is very high up in altitude for a lake.

Why is the land so dry?!?

We just got to lake Titicaca. We're on the coast of the lake, yet the land's so dry! It's so confusing!
